Malacca State, Malaysia: Tropical Paradise
Malacca State, often referred to as “The Historic State,” is the third smallest of the Malaysian States. If you visit Malacca State, you visit Malaysia. It is beautiful! Malacca is a state located in the Southern regions of Malaysia. Malacca State is located next to the Straits of Malacca. What an awesome place to visit!
Malacca is home to the Malacca Zoo, a luxurious and landscaped zoo that the family will delight in. There are over 200 animal species at the zoo, making it the second largest in the State of Malacca. The night zoo is open on Friday and Saturday nights from 8 pm to 11 pm. This is when the many nocturnal animals at the zoo come alive and can be an exciting adventure. The Zoo is open daily from 8 am to 6 pm. On Friday and Saturday nights there is a shuttle called RM12. The shuttle picks up at all the main motels for the night zoo. You can also volunteer to help out at the Zoo, by cleaning cages and helping out with different education venues. Contact the educational unit at email@example.com.
Near the Melaka Zoo is the Butterfly and Reptile sanctuary. This is a small collection of exotic reptiles, including crocodiles. They also have a good selection of tropical snakes. If you love reptiles, you will love the sanctuary.
Located near by at Alor Gajah Square there is a nice little museum. The Museum of Custom and Tradition has many exhibits on Malay marriage customs, bridal gifts through the ages and the ever-changing marriage rites. What a delightful small museum. This is a must see, while in Malacca.
In closing, I would like to mention that some nearby islands are famous diving sites for the experienced diver. The name Sipadan is spoken with reverence by divers. The underwater coral beds surrounding this tiny island of only 40 acres is amazing. This is just south of the Port of Semporna in the Celebes Sea. Some of what you might see are Jackfish, Green turtles, Sharks and even the Scalloped Hammerhead Shark. For sure you will see fantastic coral beds and hundreds of species of fish. There are many amazing wall and drift dives. This is a divers heaven! All these things are on top of an extinct underwater volcano. What an amazing place! Sipadan is a diver’s paradise! Are you ready? Let’s dive!
What are you waiting for? Make Malacca State your next Asian destination. Grab your passport and get ready to dive Sipadan. What an adventure is waiting in Malaysia!
