Welcome back to another camping review it’s kind of a camping gear review and so today I wanted to cover a collapsible electric kettle and people go whoa you’re camping well this is true but keep in mind that camping can be in a tent it could be in a cabin it could be in a yurt it could be an RV it could be you know technically you could camp outside and but sleep in your car you got lots of options and so right now I mean I’m in a cabin out in a remote area of Oregon for example.

i mac or something right so this is what it looks like this is pretty simple right pretty small you can see it’s got a nice thin footprint just a simple little cable this right here is the handle so you can pour it okay so first things first is you take this little handle off and so there’s a little teeny we’ll call it’s like a bump and you it’s silicon like a little silicone bump and you push down and that comes off this is a little lid see it’s very simple now you take this and you just hold it like right here and you just pull up on both sides so now you have a kettle okay and so if you look on this lid is a little flat area that’s so you can pour the water so you put that with the flat area towards the spout

and now you got this little handle and if you look here there’s a little hole so this just slides in there and it just clips on right there okay so you just take this and you just kind of let’s see just pop it in like that you see you want to keep it up high right so you make sure that’s fully expanded so now you have a fully expanded kettle right it’s not nice you just take this cable here

and you plug it in

and that’s it you can see how easy that is right so this will make several cups of water I recommend that you probably only boil you know one to one and a half cups you know I keep i wouldn’t take the water too much off of here because it’s you know I mean this is a small little footprint so it’s not made to do a ton of water oh I just made some water with this and I made myself a hot cup of tea and let’s just and i actually made this maybe five minutes ago and so it’s been sitting here all this whole time

it’s still very hot so this water gets very very hot so please be careful when you’re making the water so now we’re just going to take it apart

so you take that cable off just kind of fold it up now I have a little like a little tie I put around here so we’re going to just take this lid off real quick remember you got that little hole and do that there’s this little silicon lip here push down pop off the handle

and now so let’s show you that’s what it looks like on the inside and so now you can just slowly kind of fold it in and it’s pretty simple pretty quick right and it just goes down like that look how small that is right isn’t that great this handle just kind of sits in you know like sideways so

let’s see so you just sort of pushed it up like that the handle sits there you just put the lid on top it’s a little baggy so it protects it take the little cord just pop it in there just kind of put it down on the side so you don’t lose your fat footprint just tie this up right there and there you go isn’t that nice seven minutes I showed you how to put it together take it apart and you could have already made hot water by now so that’s just that’s how easy it is to use this so we’re gonna put the name of this foldable kettle uh down below so you can copy and paste it and you can put it into amazon

okay so I’m going to grab this

this is kind of the because it’s kind of a weird name so it’s louty 2o

there’s your information this one obviously is blue and white and technically it says 555 milliliters

and it’s got their email on the back it’s got louty 200 for the company so you can look this is a handy little and you may find something better and if you do please put that in the comments as well we actually found this that was being made out of Asia and she ordered this and it was just it’s so handy it’s so great I had to share it with all of you so here’s your little direction book it so again that’s the name so you can put it into the amazon search bar there so we just put it back into the little bag

just kind of

there you go

there’s your uh a collapsible electric kettle right make sure like share click the bell down below and put your comments until next time, everyone, this is explore traveler john gentry travel on everyone

Episode 13 – Travel observations in the Pacific Northwest

Episode 13 – Travel observations in the Pacific Northwest

well hello everyone welcomes back to another episode of the explore traveler show your host john gentry here i hope everybody has been enjoying their fall so so far and now that October is behind us and we’re moving into November towards the end of fall going towards the beginning of winter i figured i’d just tell people some of my observations i’ve been traveling around the pacific northwest, for the most part, Oregon and Washington state and there have been differences between the two and it’s obvious it depends on where you go withinside each state but i think i mentioned in my last podcast how i came up through nevada into oregon and there was a very noticeable change and by the time i got to Klamath falls oregon i noticed that people were

using i think the mask in an unusual fashion right so it’s one thing you see people in a large group standing in line for walmart or whatever wearing a mask you know they’re concerned about catching a communal disease there’s some logic to that right however i started seeing people just walking out in the countryside in different state parks and they were wearing a mask but they were they were by themselves and they were outside they weren’t even walking their dog so i and i just saw one or two of those you know and once i got into the klamath fall areas but it sort of kind of um it caught me off guard um because coming up even you know new mexico has been pretty heavy-handed on some of their um regulations and you see that but it you know is rare right even in the albuquerque area it

wasn’t like super common to see stuff like that but you know as soon as i’m drive across the border into a new state all of a sudden i i see the changes there in oregon so i thought well maybe it’s not you know maybe it’s not too common right so i know i continue on i go in through medford i go over to the coast and i drive all the way up and untraveled all the way you know into the portland area and the suburbs and towns around portland but then i noticed you know the closer you get to portland the more likely you are to see people um just walking around outside by themselves um wearing masks and so i started asking questions and they were like well there is technically a rule with inside organ it’s a state it’s not a law it’s like um a regulation or like some form of uh they call it mandates but that’s what they say publicly but if you actually look deeper the way their legal language is it’s basically like a departmental rule right and so basically i guess if you are outside in an area where you are possible to be maybe i think they’re they’re they’re basically saying crowded type possibilities um they’re asking you to wear you know the mask so i think that’s how it started but there is a percentage of the population in oregon that appears to just wear it all the time i see people um wearing it by themselves as they drive in their car i see that quite often and i think some people are just forgetting that they have it on but it’s much more common in oregon than i saw it in colorado or utah or nevada or new mexico or texas you know so it’s the worst i’ve seen so far and i think the reason why i bring it up is you know we’re all about traveling and exploring and having a healthy lifestyle and you cannot have an effective healthy lifestyle if you are in the mental state where you feel you need to wear a mask by yourself in the middle of nowhere probably not a healthy

a healthy thing to have going on in your life so if that is you you know just think about it um i’m not really criticizing per se but i do worry about people’s mental health with everything that’s going on and i want people to be healthy and happy and i i think getting outdoors and enjoying the fresh air that nature gives us and using trails and you know we’re not abusing nature we’re just interacting with it in a way that um you know doesn’t leave trash doesn’t leave pollution and we’re enjoying it right and we’re going around we’re observing you know humanity’s past through his history and anthropology and you know just going on you know nice walks with our family and friends or sometimes even by ourselves so that’s kind of you know that’s what we’re about here explore traveler and explore traveler.com and we want that to be something that we encourage people to do and you know you can’t let over exaggerations and propaganda to the point and i don’t care where it’s coming from you know people say oh you know it’s for the right oh it’s for the left propaganda comes from everywhere and it comes from advertisements comes from companies it comes from governments so it’s everywhere but we have to pay enough of an attention that we know when we’re you know starting to consume propaganda right we probably should assume that it’s propaganda first check it out and then you know verify right and oregon and washington state

ExplorerTraveler presents canyonlands national park. Well I’m going to take you on some hikes going to show you the general idea of what the rock formations look like you can see from behind me when they say canyonlands they really mean it um before we go too far please go over share from youtube share from Facebook to those social media to your others like share and if you’re on youtube click that bell so others um it just helps us to reach more people and it also lets you get a notification when we post new videos I usually only post one a week at the most and usually it’s just a couple a month just depends on where I’m at so we’re going to take you on some trails um make sure you bring lots of water while you’re out here I mean I’ve got some food I’ve got some gear got my um you know camera and also my camera stand so I’m kind of prepared for some long hikes today and over the next couple days so I look forward to seeing all of you further on down the trail

okay so let’s start off

at this beautiful overlook here and you can actually see trails on these plateaus they’ve probably been there for thousands of years see I went over there way off in the distance people have transversed this area

I know that uh I think it’s called the ute or ute people they lived in this area or somewhere close to here because I’ve seen their petroglyphs so I assume that they probably use these trails so I’m hiking along this cliffside here it’s one if I don’t know thousands of trails here in Canyonlands national park

don’t forget to get your lifetime pass for the national park it’s well worth it and you’ll enjoy it for the rest of your life especially if you’re ex-military you can get it for free i think it falls under the disability category because most of us come out with at least you know a banged-up knee or something

i’m gonna go over here see the view from this other side and we’re going to circle back we’re kind of off the beaten trail a little bit

it’s beautiful out here take unnecessary risks if you see from my feral um people article a lot of people get hurt trying to take a selfie there’s no need to get excessively close to the end of the cliffs you can see it just fine without getting right up on

it I’m gonna zoom in here for you

look at that it’s almost like cathedral-like

we’re gonna go over here see what’s up here and then we’re gonna loop back around

this area is called the grand view

it lives up to its name

the pass is pretty unmarked except by ice over thousands of years ago so you kind of have to make your own path

that’s well worth it if you look over here just find a weather station in the distance

oh

see that’s the one thing about this national park you really do not know what’s on the other side

I was thinking we’re going to end up over there somewhere but

we actually ended up over here

and

I don’t think I’m gonna be going much further but let’s see

give an adventurous spirit this is a great place to go

get some fresh air

get some exercise

get away from the

the craziness that goes on these days

yeah a little weather station pretty nice looking

look at that

I’m actually not sure how far I can go

during the busy times of the day, the parking for these trails is

actually quite difficult

right now there’s parking available since most of these people are going back to a hotel I’m staying somewhere in the park so I don’t really care

you may or may not find a camping spa you can’t assume it’s first come first serve

these wild junipers

see I’m getting photos along the way

keep in mind that

almost always have an article that accompanies each video so look below in the comments for the link if you don’t see it right away that doesn’t mean it won’t be there soon normally I post the video first

it usually takes me about a good week

to actually get the articles done because I try to put some captions with photos so

when people find stuff on the internet they see kind of general speaking you know what the picture belongs to

so we’re gonna go kind of back to where we came sort of and there’s another trail

that is actually much more used we’re kind of out in the middle of nowhere right now but

hello everyone so today I wanted to show you some tools that I’ve been using that Karen has found and she’s been finding some of this stuff on Amazon and I think that’s something that everybody can benefit from so today I wanted to show you the collapse it’s a collapsible bowl so I’ve been using this um both remotely and at this particular cabin where I’m at now and I think um this is a really good product now I’m not being sponsored by this company or anything like that

got some great adventures there um i’ve reviewed tons of gear tons of different from mres to dehydrated food i’ve even done videos on food that i bought you know in grocery stores that’s good for camping so i mean we have a vast encyclopedia of adventure travel knowledge that’s there just for you the listener the viewer and the reader of our blog so without further ado this is the collapsible bull now it’s um it’s called collapsible the collapsible silicon camping bowl with lid and folding fork and the name of the company is um let’s see here mr peanut

but it’s it’s actually done by mr peanut pet carriers now people go is that a dog watering bowl does it really matter if you work for people and it weren’t for pets this is extremely extremely handy so i’m going to show you it comes in a special zip bag and you want to save the bag if you happen to buy this because there’s a little hole here in this special bag and that hole aligns with a hole in the device so you can put a clippy in it you can hang it from your backpack as you’re traveling you can use it for your pet but you can use it for yourself as well so here’s what it looks like so this is pretty handy right i mean look how small that is isn’t that great uh it probably comes in other colors but this is what it looked like what i uh what i have you can see it’s you can see the kind of expandable rings there so first you have this lid the lid comes off it seals very very very well so if you’re putting hot water in here and you want to reconstitute something it’s going to get hot in here and it’s going to keep that heat and that moisture inside this dish so it comes with a folding fork it’s a simple fork i mean it’s not as good as the spork but it folds up pretty small it’s kind of handy so i mean you can see it it gets it’s pretty small right so this this is a handy little thing uh maybe you’re having some some sausages on the barbie and this is a good thing to have but this is kind of the cool part so this flat bowl expands to a bowl that big you can see that’s a pretty good sized bowl i can put a lot of stuff in here um this will a whole dehydrated meal will easily fit into this bowl and still have room right so that’s what’s i love this thing so i use this almost daily now and i’ve had it let’s see karen found this on amazon a couple months ago and she shipped this out to me on one of my trips and i used this and if you look at you know some of these places i went to down in the southwest just 30 days ago i was very very remote so this was extremely handy so let me kind of show you how easy it is to just pack up so you just sort of push down and it just kind of pops into place here see like that take it to your little fork just put it in the middle and this goes on just like that

there you go make sure you keep the bag this bag is extremely handy because i’ve never seen a bowl that was designed to stay in the bag so you could carry it on your backpack and you see i don’t know if you can see it but there’s a little hole right here in this bag and you can see that this hole it lines up with that hole right here and you can see it so it’s very very handy just like it it’s a very like a robust ziploc bag actually just like that it’s very handy here’s the label what it looks like so you can see there and this is so it’s a united states of america company and it looks like

let’s see mr peanut yeah mr peanut premium products.com that’s their website and so i’m pretty sure if you type in mr peanut collapsible bull on amazon this is going to pop up you know what it looks like and so consider buying one of these so again please share these helpful videos so others can learn about some of these products and some of these easy to make meals make sure to visit us at exploretraveler.com like and share the video and uh we hope to see you sometimes on one of these trails talk to you later everyone travel on

welcome everyone let’s do a new camping food review and today it’s oatmeal’s pepperoni pizza now you see me review mres and the way you heat the pizza is very similar to a modern day mre so you have three packets inside one of them is the heating packet and there’s two pieces of pizza so you put the heating packet between the two pizza packets and you fill the water to this little line here and it says you let it sit for three to five minutes i went maybe a little over five minutes and it was really really hot so let’s you know just go through real quick it’s 280 calories per servings and it’s two servings so 29 carbs per serving so this is not what i would call a diet food but you know you got picky kid you’re out caffeine and they’re like mom dude i want pepperoni pizza turns out there’s a pepperoni pizza and it probably will last for 20 years in this packet i’m not saying that’s a must-have but something to consider so let’s test it out

okay so it’s in these little packets here

let’s see how hot is it

it’s actually pretty hot they’re like little foil packets so it kind of looks like this so you take it out

it tastes like pepperoni pizza it’s not up to the journal level but that’s pretty close so next time what you think about if you just want to have kind of a fun snack this is something to think about

i wonder if i let it sit longer

if the cheese will melt

it got warm the packet was like boiling hot but the pizza itself was only warm so make sure you add enough water for sure because maybe i didn’t have enough water i’ll have to test it

actually that surprisingly tastes a lot like pizza

considering i am in a remote area of utah right now it’s kind of shocking to be eating pizza so if you’re looking for camping food hiking food prepping food whatever your reason may be um consider these little pizzas i think you know i make some nice surprises for kids especially if they’re under a little bit of stress something going on powers out whatever you can make them a pepperoni pizza now i mean this is pretty cool i went through many of storms with with our kids when they’re little and it would have been nice to have this and so we have a lot of these uh camping food reviews um consider sharing these whether you’re sharing them on you know facebook or twitter or any of the social media channels you can get them from facebook but they’re almost all entirely on our youtube channel explore traveler and we also have an article about camping food on exploretraveler.com and i usually put that article in the comments below and i pin it to the top so you can click through there and i try over time to add in all these articles sorry all these videos into the camping food article so they’re kind of all consolidated into one place and so if you’re on youtube please like comment hit the bell so you get notification next time i don’t pass post you know like all the time so it’s not like you’re gonna get bombarded i mean at most once or twice a week sometimes when i’m traveling so i’m trying to catch up but really it’s like no more than for a month and so and that’s assuming i can even do for a month i mean i also have to make a living so and you know so consider you know sharing our content we really appreciate it and i think until next time i want to uh just reach out i want you all to go to exploretraveler.com and to travel on don’t let anything stop you keep doing what you love and get outdoors take your family enjoy life and learn some new tips trips from our website from our youtube videos learn some survival skills camping skills go hiking fishing hunting get outdoors and be prepared for challenging times and by getting back out and doing things that you did as a child you know you refresh those skills and then if you ever need to go in an emergency such as you have a hurricane or whatever the reason you know that you can do something in emergency okay and so travel on everyone
