White Sands National Monument

White Sands National Monument

Exploring the Southwest comes with an abundance of places to explore. New Mexico is no different and one only needs to look at a map, and there south of Albuquerque is the White Sands National Monument. I drove in from the south, via an east to the west corridor through the top side of the Lincoln National Forest.

Exploring this park was a fun and enjoyable experience, and I consider the caverns part of the trip very accessible for the disabled, and for young children. Be prepared to wait on the Carlsbad Caverns elevator. The lighting is difficult for photography, and video so takes this into consideration. The walking trail I show before I go into the cavern is very good, and great for everyone.

The Carlsbad Caverns National park is one of the most visited sites in New Mexico. It has approximately 120 known caves hidden mostly underground. Carved from limestone which is deposited in an ancient Sea, its underground landscape attracts thousands of tourists. Thus, if you are an enthusiast of archaeology and nature, this can be a treat for you. Besides, visitors can also experience Carlsbad Caverns bat tours, expeditions to specific caves, and walks through the wondrous geographical formations.

San Angelo Texas State Park – This particular park is easy to walk but certain precautions must be taken. First clothing should be light and cool, and consider longer pants and shirts if prone to sunburn. Second, you must bring water, and pay close attention to your own body while staying hydrated. The Texas state park is about ten minutes from the town of San Angelo Texas, and very close to the Goodfellow Air Force Base. This is one of those parks that are close by to everything from hotels, restaurants to some cold to drink when you’re done. We also saw several people with their dogs them having fun, and the experience is also family-friendly. So next time you’re in San Angelo please take the time to visit this Texas State Park and let us know in the comments if you find the longhorn cattle and buffalo this also live in the park.
