Privacy Statement for ExploreTraveler.com

ExploreTraveler is owned by GenTek Holdings LLC. Business mailing address: 307 S Wellington St, Office 7, Marshall, TX 75670, USA.

At ExploreTraveler, we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. This Privacy Statement explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your data when you visit our website or use our services. By accessing ExploreTraveler.com, you consent to the practices described in this statement.

  1. Collection of Personal Information: We may collect personal information from you when you voluntarily provide it while using our website or services. This information may include your name, email address, contact details, and any other information you choose to provide.
  2. Free downloads and travel updates: our website forms record your email address, optional name, download request and consent choices. We provide the requested PDF in your browser after submission. Travel updates are optional. A separate, unchecked signup box records a single opt-in; no second confirmation email is required. Declining updates does not prevent a free download. We keep download request and customer records separately from marketing permission. Unsubscribes and previous marketing objections remain suppressed. ExploreTraveler travel-update emails measure opens and link clicks to assess engagement and improve our content. Signup forms disclose this measurement without a separate tracking checkbox. Email opens are estimates and do not prove that a person read the message. You can stop future emails using the unsubscribe link. Historical contacts recovered from old notifications are held without automatic marketing enrollment. Future marketing emails include an unsubscribe link.
  3. Use of Personal Information: We use the personal information you provide to deliver our services, respond to your inquiries, improve our website and services, and communicate with you. We may also use your information for marketing purposes, such as sending you promotional emails or newsletters. However, you can opt out of receiving such communications at any time.
  4. Disclosure of Personal Information: We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties without your consent. However, we may share your information with trusted service providers who assist us in operating our website or delivering our services. These service providers are bound by confidentiality agreements and are prohibited from using your information for any other purpose.
  5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies: ExploreTraveler.com uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to enhance your browsing experience, analyze website traffic, and gather information about how you interact with our website. This helps us improve our services and tailor them to your preferences. You have the option to disable cookies through your browser settings, but please note that this may limit certain features of our website.
  6. Data Security: We employ industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or alteration. However, please be aware that no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
  7. External Links: Our website may contain links to third-party websites. Please note that we are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these external sites. We encourage you to review the privacy statements of those websites when you leave our site.
  8. Children’s Privacy: ExploreTraveler.com is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals in this age group. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will take appropriate steps to delete that information.
  9. Changes to this Privacy Statement: We may update this Privacy Statement from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We encourage you to review this statement periodically for any updates. Your continued use of our website or services after any changes indicates your acceptance of the revised Privacy Statement.

AI travel assistant

Optional voice controls use your browser or device speech service. Read-aloud starts when you select Listen to this answer or explicitly start a voice conversation. Speak one question transcribes text for review before you submit it. Start voice conversation sends recognized travel questions automatically, reads replies, and listens between replies on supported browsers after microphone permission. You can stop at any time; the session also stops when the page is hidden, after five minutes, or after six questions. Named voice commands can request the free guide shown on screen; some devices require a further tap to download. Speech recognition may use your browser provider’s service. No microphone starts merely from visiting the page. ExploreTraveler does not save microphone audio; voice analytics record feature-use categories and durations. Submitted speech is treated as a chat question under the excerpt-retention policy below.

The optional ExploreTraveler Travel Assistant uses Cloudflare, Google Gemini and, when enabled, OpenAI to answer questions from our public travel content. When you select Ask the assistant, your question and up to four recent chat messages are sent to Cloudflare and Google Gemini (or OpenAI when enabled) for processing. OpenAI API requests disable response storage; provider security and abuse monitoring may still apply. Do not include passport numbers, payment details, passwords, medical history or other sensitive information. Basic redaction can remove some identifiers but is not a guarantee.

ExploreTraveler does not keep full chat histories or add chat users to the mailing list. Chat history stays in page memory until you clear it or leave. You may choose to download trip notes as a text file to your own device; ExploreTraveler does not keep that file. To improve our travel guides and assistant, we retain short, automatically redacted question and answer excerpts, detected topics and keywords, linked public resources, request time, AI provider, response time and internal-test status for up to 30 days. We omit excerpts for detected medical, emergency and professional-advice questions. Automatic redaction can miss personal information: do not submit sensitive details. These records are for internal reporting and have no public read endpoint. Supported statistics-consent choices, Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track suppress this optional excerpt and topic reporting; basic service and abuse-prevention counts remain. We keep aggregate daily request and topic counts, product-card and email-invitation displays and clicks, follow-up choices, and trip-note feature counts. These counts contain no chat text, email addresses or payment details. We also use temporary, daily salted hashes of network addresses for abuse prevention. Daily cleanup removes aggregate counts after 90 days and these temporary hashes after three days. Redacted excerpts are deleted after 30 days by the daily cleanup and on new recorded requests. Raw network addresses are not saved in the assistant database. Application request logging and AI Gateway logging are not enabled for this assistant. Cloudflare also processes network and service information under its own privacy terms. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.

Replies can be incomplete or wrong. This is a planning aid rather than a booking, medical, legal or financial service. Optional travel-email signup is separate.

Download and sharing measurement

We measure guide-download attempts, complete file receipt reported by the browser, transfer errors, share-button choices and visits from tagged shared links. A receipt means the browser received the expected file bytes; it does not prove a permanent disk save, reading, an offline copy, a social post or delivery to a private recipient.

Where your browser permits statistics measurement, a random browser identifier and session identifier help distinguish repeat attempts and return visits. We record guide identifiers, site paths, campaign tags, timestamps, approximate country and the chosen sharing channel. Journey records and the browser identifier expire after 90 days. This journey service does not identify contacts from forwarded email links, store raw network addresses, read private messages or retain full chat histories. Assistant events record question/reply categories, timing and resource-link paths; the separate, limited redacted excerpts are covered by the AI travel assistant policy above.

We respect supported statistics-consent settings, Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track. You can still use direct download links when measurement is disabled or unavailable. Clicking a named social sharing button opens that service; its own privacy terms apply. Ordinary PDF files contain no background reporting code: shared copies are observable only when someone follows a tagged link back to our site. Optional travel-email signup remains separate.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding our Privacy Statement or the handling of your personal information, please contact us through the provided channels on our website.
