The MacArthur Landing Memorial National Park is also called The Leyte Landing Memorial. It is located on Red Beach in the town of Palo, Leyte. Palo, Leyte is a small town outside of Tacloban City on the Island of Leyte. The name, “Red Beach” does not refer to the natural sand of the beach. The natural color of the sand is brown. The name refers to all the blood that was shed for the freedom of the Philippine people.
The MacArthur Landing Memorial National Park is adjacent to the town of Palo and only a few minutes from the city of Tacloban. Tacloban City is the capital of the Providence of Leyte.
