The sweet Tomatillo of Central America

 

The Aztecs first grew the sweet Tomatillos as far back as 700 B.C.  Along with Maze, potatoes and avocados.  The Tomatillo was also a stable of the Mayas along with the Aztecs in Central America, which became a favorite in Mexico and a preferred staple over the Tomato.
