1. Choose your suggested itinerary

The suggestions are flexible day themes. Check distances, transport, current opening information and availability yourself before committing.

2. Build your Penang food checklist

A wishlist is not a dietary suitability assessment. Ask directly about allergens, ingredients and preparation.

3. Set your own budget

Enter totals in Malaysian ringgit (MYR) for your entire travel party and whole stay. No prices are prefilled. Blank fields count as zero.

Keep sensitive personal information out of this worksheet. Choices are not sent to us by this planner. Saving is optional and uses this browser’s storage; clearing browser data can remove the saved copy.

Choose your Penang food stops

Build a shortlist with our Penang vegetarian street-food guide and traditional Penang desserts and snacks guide. Use their sources and ingredient questions when checking a stall or restaurant.

Take the free vegetarian and dessert field cards for ordering questions and tasting notes. Add your choices to the printable Penang workbook, or return to the Penang food and video hub for original archive stories.

Check the journey to your food stop and back

For a George Town food day, the Penang Global Tourism 2026 leaflet describes the Central Area Transit (CAT) bus as a free shuttle within George Town. Treat its map as an orientation aid, not a live departure board or a promise of a stop beside your chosen stall. Leaflet checked October 30, 2026.

Arriving from Butterworth? The Penang Port Commission ferry page identifies Sultan Abdul Halim as the mainland terminal and Raja Tun Uda at Pengkalan Weld as the George Town terminal. Check the crossing and onward trip separately: confirm the departure direction, current timetable, ticket/payment details and return options for your date. Allow time between disembarking and your meal stop, and check the walking route with your luggage. Ferry terminal information checked October 31, 2026.

Use the official MyRapid journey planner to research the actual trip. Choose Rapid Penang when selecting a region, and check both the outward and return journeys for your travel date.

  • Record the boarding stop, direction, alighting stop and the final walk to the food business.
  • Check service times for the return leg before planning a late meal; keep a backup way back to your accommodation.
  • Confirm fares, payment method and any pass eligibility for paid legs. A free CAT journey does not make every bus or onward connection free.

Put the confirmed costs in Local transport (MYR) and the stop details, date checked and backup in your notes above. These are planning prompts; this page does not verify live departures, individual-stall access or step-free boarding.

Suggested routes you can use without the planner

One day: a food-and-culture introduction

Choose a George Town food stop and leave time for nearby cultural exploring. Read the Bali Hai visit and laksa story, then choose what fits your time and preferences.

Three days: food, coast and an inland outing
  1. A George Town food-and-culture day.
  2. A coastal day, using the beaches guide and satay video as inspiration.
  3. Consider Penang Hill as a separate outing after checking current access.
Five days: add flexibility

Build on the three-day outline with a return to a favorite food area and a flexible day for rest, weather changes or onward travel. Avoid filling every hour.
