Whenever we hear about Alaska, we think of the white, wild, rugged, mysterious, stark, and jaw-droppingly gorgeous mountainscapes. Which is true! The best time to visit Alaska is around the summer months of June-August. Although there’s a shoulder season of May and September that can get you equally delighted with its serenity. But if you want to visit the country for Aurora, you will have to pick the peak winter months from September and April. The region is extremely vast and you do need to book a vehicle to move across. The weather here is very unpredictable and hence it is always wise to pack layers.

Alaska is all about adventure and fun and there is absolutely nothing that you cannot do here. There is no stopping after your reach the mountains. Winter calls you for skiing and snowboarding, glacier trekking, flightseeing, and snowmobiling. But for the other months, you can go fishing, cruising, wildlife viewing, road tripping, kayaking, and white water rafting. You can cycle or hike along the slopes of the mountains too.

You can look for affordable accommodations in hotels, hostels, camping, and tents. If you want to experience the rich Alaskan flavor, you must get deep within the place and explore locations like Skagway, Sitka, Ketchikan, Chicken, and definitely Fairbanks. These are the places from where the Aurora is best seen. Also, do not miss out on visiting the national parks and the glaciers.
